The Night Before, The Night Before

Writer's picture: Breanna OuldBreanna Ould

Twas the night before the night before, and all through the town, all the people are scrambling and running around. So much to do, so much to get done, but budgets are tight and emotions high strung. The presents not wrapped, the baking not done, weary hearts are discouraged as the magic seems gone. This year has been hard, so much loss, so much strain, it seems Christmas time has joined the same train. The toddlers are melting, the dishes undone, it seems that hope must surely be spent.

Yet, shining bright in the darkest of nights, the Christmas lights dance in the snow. Brilliant bright greens, blues and reds mingle with calming white glow. These little lights shining so bright sing reminds of truth to my soul. Christmas feels busy, overwhelming and hard, yet that's not where my mind should go. The True Light of Christmas shines in the world, bringing hope to all who take time. To stop, to remember there is something better, a hope that passes all time.

Jesus's birth brings hope of true joy, that money could never buy. No loss can touch it, no strain surpass it, Jesus wins every time. So while meltdowns and moments, finances and dishes may pile up in our days, our hope can go on, through now into dawn, day after day after day. Christ is in Christmas and because of His presence we can rest in the mess and the strain. Take heart dear friend, this is not the end, our hope can go on another day.
