One of my goals for myself this year is to become more diligent in intentional prayer. I'm really good at the constant popcorn style prayers, but I need to grow intentionally in my prayer life. One of the ways I am working on this is through a prayer journal, so I wanted to share a prayer with all of you to start off this New Year.
Gracious Heavenly Father, thank You for the start of a new year and for Your sustaining power through the past year. Thank You for faithfully walking me through each moment, the wonderful, the horrible and every moment in between. Thank You for Your grace on the days I didn't rely on You and tried to do it alone and thank You for gently calling me back so You could carry me.
I praise You, oh Lord, for the mighty works of Your hands. I glorify You for all that You do for me and all that You have given me. I glorify You, Father, for the gift of my children and my husband. I lift up praise to You alone as I look around and see the abundance that You have provided.
Lord, may I have Your heart this year to give generously from what I have received, to live open handed and not hang on tightly to earthly things, and to love others more and more. May I have Your wisdom, Your grace and Your joy as I parent my children, as I love my husband, and as I seek to serve my family and all those You place in my life this year. Give me eyes to see them as you do and a heart to love them as You love them. May I choose to steward all You give me this year, my time, my resources and my energy, well and in a way that glorifies You. Keep me from sin Lord, and lead me on the path everlasting.
May Your Name be made known this year.
