Its the last few days of 2022, and like the majority of people, I often take time to reflect on this past year and set some goals for myself for the new year. This year has been a full one for me with a whole lot of downs and a lot less ups, though the one highlight shines through all the bad. In 2022 I lost 3 very close family members, faced multiple sicknesses for my family, had major surgery and had to slowly recover, and more.... but I also through that surgery had my second daughter, and was able to give my eldest a sister. Their friendship and bond has made 2022 one of my favorite years yet, even though it was surely one of the hardest years in my life.
I have seen myself grow a lot this past year in my personal self, my spiritual walk with God, my marriage, my friendships and my capabilities. I've learned to handle overwhelm with a whole lot more reliance on God. As I look to 2023, I wanted to be intentional in setting some achievable growth goals for myself in a few specific areas of my life:
My Spiritual Growth
My Marriage
My Parenting
My Home
My Finances
In all these areas, I have some specific guidelines for myself as I write down goals.
Consider 1 Peter 4:7-11, "The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen."
When setting goals for yourself for 2023, may you consider God's roll in those goals first and foremost. May you seek His glory, not just your betterment. May your desire be to bring Him praise before you seek praise for yourself. Let 2023 be the year of seeking God above all else for you and for me. Praying His richest blessings over you through the start of this new year.
